Brest — the city with rich and ancient history. By a year of the first mention (1019) Brest — the fourth city in Belarus, only Polotsk (862), Vitebsk (974) and Rounds (980) earlier are mentioned. For the history the city changed more than once the state accessory; now is on the joint of territories of the European union and the Commonwealth of Independent States, near a place where borders of three countries — Belarus meet, Ukraine and Poland.

The Brest fortress – the memorial complex constructed within the city of Brest, on a place of the old city of Brest-Litovsk (only a few cult constructions adapted under needs of fortress remained).  Construction of defensive works began in 1833, and in April, 1842 fortress entered number of operating fortresses of the I class of the Russian Empire.

The museum of defense of the Brest fortress the Museum is open in 1956 took place in the restored part of defensive barracks of the fortress constructed on the central island – Citadels – in 1842 which is a monument of history and architecture of the middle of 19 century.

Archaeological museum "Berestye". Berestye — the ancient ancient settlement, a fundamental principle of the city of Brest. About nature of building of the ancient city "tell" the remains of inhabited and economic constructions, the domestic floorings executed in a tree (a pine, an oak). All opened seventeen constructions of various construction circles belong to type of land single-chamber structures, in form of square. Constructions with walls on 7 — 12 wreaths that allows to judge volume composition of constructions, a form and the sizes of door and window apertures, details of board roofs remained. Considering possibility of further opening in the territory of ancient Berestya and for the purpose of preservation of the remains of layers of construction culture of the XI—XIII centuries.

Art museum works of the Brest sculptors, artists, woodcarvers and other masters are presented to expositions, reflect formation and development of the fine arts of the Brest edge of the XIX-XX centuries. In a historical hall the model of Berestya of the XVII-XVIII centuries is presented.
